Planned Update
- Removal of all PNG24 images to support earlier versions of Internet Explorer
- Transfer of CSS header to seperate source file to allow for easier format updates
- Transfer of pages from X-HTML to PHP based pages as per above mentioned update
- Adding help file for Cooliris / Piclens Browser Lite version and users of slower connections (Preloader is being considered)
- Overhaul of backend support code to allow for faster page processing
- Streamlining of page images (reducing KB size of images to assist users of slower connections)
- Legal disclaimer update for Services page
- Sourcing all blog posts seperatly from main pages
- Creating backend loader for pages to aid in updates
- Reworking of Cooliris creation system to allow for quicker gallery updates
- Subcontent sections being considered, improvised layout changes planned
- Email service temporary downtime on 15/11/08 for 5 hours at 5pm GMT (Essential Updates)
- Site Down Time on Sunday 16/11/08 between 00:00-01:00 (Updates and Patches)

Maintenance Complete: Added 08/Nov/2008

The scheduled maintenance is now complete, Each Page has now been updated to remove the Spacer images, and allows for a much cleaner format.

The main logo source files have been updated
The Gallery Has Now Been Updated To Include Higher Resolution Images
Copyright Logo Has Now Been Added
Backend Core has been updated
New Developments are now in process based on the new framework.

Scheduled Maintenance: Added 28/Oct/2008

thelongmile.net will be undergoing scheduled maintenance on 30/Oct/2008 and as a result will not be available.
I expect to have the maintenance completed within 24 hours.
The maintenance has been scheduled to apply the updates to the site detailed in the last news update. These changes include

- Removal of image spacers, in favor of CSS formatting, allowing earlier versions of internet browsers to be compatible with the sites
- Complete removal where possible of all PNG24 items as earlier versions of internet explorer do not support these
- Main logo and banner update to be consistent with time of year
- Resolution update for gallery items
- Addition of © logo to all images in galleries to help prevent image theft
- Various page updates including content and buttons

Although the Maintenance is mainly backend, it will help this site become a more stable platform for future updates and enhance compatibility for all users of the site, especially those on older browsers.

During the time of the update, the website will not be available. A simple placeholder image will be displayed, however you can still email the page author on admin@thelongmile.net at any time during the update.

The update will also allow me to begin implementing the mobile version of this site including a restricted area for thelongmile.net partners and employers.

The TOC's will remain unaffected at this time.

thelongmile.net has been undergoing some significant changes to the backend, and as a
result, picture updates have been delayed. The changes are set to take about another week
based on my current working timescale's, and should bring the following to the site:

- Transparent PNGs will be removed for IE 5 and 6 compatibility
- Text will be floated so that spacer images do not have to be used
- Hopefully will implement some PHP coding and build a backend interface so this updates easier
- Updating the resolution of the images in the Portfolio image gallery
- Add more images to the site
