I get asked a lot why I chose ‘The Long Mile” as a name, rather than using my actual surname or another handle to go by.
No, It’s not because of Clyde W. Ford and his 2005 : “The Shango Mysteries” book (Although it’s not a bad read at all). It’s actually a play on words. A mix between “The Green Mile” (That infamous walk to the electric chair on death row in the Louisiana State Penintiary) and “The Long Walk”, a dystopian novel written by Stephen King in 1979 depicting an event held each year in which 100 boys under the age of 18 walk for “the Prize”- whatever they want for the rest of their lives.
It shouldn’t be hard to see now why I came up with the name. We’re all on a journey, we’re all walking toward a prize of our own creation, until the inevitable end.
I promise, it’s not morbid. It’s exciting! From day to day we’re all walking toward the prize, and we’re all on that journey to the end. So lets make the most of it.
Plus, my name, while easily found out, is still a little too complicated to put on a web url
