About the whole writing thing
There’s a reason I chose this particular icon for this blog post. It’s actually down to something a friend of mine said. Go have a look at spoofscript.com . It’s another blog, one written by a personal friend of mine.
We were talking earlier this evening partly about code, some troubleshooting and also about blogging. In particular we were talking about the style of blogging we each take. Whilst Sean takes an approach very similar to that of a news writer and in a professional capacity, I on the other hand tend to keep it down to a very personal level, and finish my blogs with open ended questions. And rather than give you something to all get your teeth into and read, I often write my blogs and leave questions.
Perhaps in a way I want to be talking with you, rather than talking to you. In a way I frequently invite comments and conversations. As Sean put it I frequently ask for feedback in a somewhat begging and needy way.
This blog post as you have probably gathered is actually about blogging itself. About the way I write, and why I write.
When I decided to blog, I thought it would be a great way for people to keep up to date with the on-goings of my life. Perhaps you might comment, and join in, in the same way that you approach your friends and talk about your life and have a conversation. I’ve always viewed personal blogging as a form of conversation between the writer and the readers, but actually I might have been wrong.
It seems apparent that I need to adjust my writing style somewhat. Not only based on what my friend told me, but also after looking at a number of other blogs. Almost none of the other blogs try to be as personal as this.
I stress that I still want to keep the personal aspect and still invite at least a little conversation, but I need to… tone things up a little so that you, the reader get a more enjoyable, meaty and succulent experience for your time.
